What makes Dallas photography so great is the distinct character of the city and the variety of people who live here. Dallas entails a unique blend of tastes creating an intriguing place for photographers. Dallas caters to both the small western get togethers to the lavish black tie events and everything in between making Dallas photography both interesting and unique.

Jason Kindig was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. At a very young age, he was introduced to a disposable camera. Immediately, Jason began shooting everything he could see. It was easy to see that he and the camera made a perfect pair. As he grew, Jason photographed more and more until one day his passion for Dallas photography became undeniable. Shortly after experimenting with the disposable, he did away with it and purchased his first of many cameras.

He then attended the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas where he immersed himself and learned how he could contribute to the Dallas photography scene. Every free moment Jason had, he would spend working on personal projects of all sorts, and Jason was never without his camera. While at North Texas, Jason continuously challenged and pushed himself to higher levels.

Jason wanted to be a well rounded for Dallas photography so he studied in a particular way. Jason received his Bachelors in photojournalism. While studying photojournalism, Jason learned the absolute beauty in fleeting moments and the absolute power of photography. He also quickly realized that speed and a watchful eye distinguish one photographer from the rest.

Not only did Jason want to be carefully trained in a photojournalistic style, he also wanted to study art photography to further expand his understanding. He received a minor in art photography alongside his degree in photojournalism. Photography as an art form differs greatly from that of a photojournalistic background. Art photography does not focus on moments per say, but instead on the interaction between color, contrast, value, space and subject matter. Art photography is not just about capturing a moment.

While photojournalism and art photography are vastly different the combination of the two has brought a distinctive look to Dallas photography. Jason Kindig’s photographs are shot from a documentary or photojournalistic perspective, yet he also has an artistic flair infused. The combination of these two styles is what makes Jason Kindigs’ work stand out among Dallas photography.

Jason began traveling and challenging himself as a photographer. Not only did he work for The Dallas Morning News, he also photographed for various newspapers and magazines located in Virginia, New York, Canada and the Netherlands. However, after all the traveling, Jason returned to Texas due to his love for Dallas photography.

Jason now lives in Dallas with his wife. He loves Dallas photography and the uniqueness that comes with the big city. Jason enjoys photographing Dallas weddings, architecture, interior design, landscape design, Dallas events, portraits, and food and wine. His passion for Dallas photography continues to grow on a daily basis as he consistently pushes himself to higher levels.
