Dallas Engagement Portraits in an Urban Oasis!

Hello everyone,
I thought I would take a moment to share some of my favorite images from a recent Dallas engagement portraits shoot. I am a Dallas wedding photographer, which means that I have the incredible opportunity to work with so many great couples that are in love, and love to have fun! Lane and Andrew definitely fit the bill, as they are so dedicated to each other, and are also equally dedicated to cracking themselves up and having a blast.
In deciding on a location for their Dallas engagement portraits, we wanted something that spoke to their personality, and was of course beautiful too! Andrew will be working for Neiman’s downtown, and Lane is going to be a nurse at Parkland, so they are both very urban individuals, and quite urbane as well. Since they have a great cosmopolitan vibe, I decided to do their portraits in downtown Dallas, specifically in the arts district. I have always enjoyed the architecture of the Meyerson Symphony Center, both personally and as a Dallas event photographer, and now with beautiful additions such as the Winspear Opera House and Wyly Theatre, amongst others, the arts district is more vibrant than ever.
We started off near the Meyerson, and took images in the trees and near a sculpture to help let the couple get used to being photographed. It’s interesting to watch, as most people take time to really get comfortable in front of the camera, so as a Dallas wedding photographer, I always make sure to start off with this in mind. The great thing about Dallas engagement portraits is that you are being photographed with your favorite person in the world, and the one that you are most comfortable around.
Lane and Andrew hit their stride in no time, so we cruised all over Sammons Park and I just focused on documenting them having a great time being with each other in a beautiful setting. As with my Dallas wedding photography and Dallas photography in general, my primary emphasis is on the moment. If I can capture a moment, then a memory has been created that will last for years and years to come. Lane and Andrew had tons of great moments together, and I snapped away!
Though there were plenty of great spots, my personal favorite was the reflecting pool that has a mirror image of the Wyly Theatre in it. Once I saw this area, there was no way this Dallas wedding photographer was leaving without photographing Dallas engagement portraits of my couple in front of it. Better yet, the pool is made so that people can more or less walk on water, which makes for a very cool effect that you see in the images.
We got so many fun images, Lane got to get her model on with her fiancé, and all was well. As always, I hope you enjoy the images, and I cannot wait to share Lane’s beautiful bridals, and their wedding images once that all goes down. Stay tuned; I know I can’t wait to show you!
