Dallas Bridal Portraits at the Lake

Dallas Bridal Portraits

I am so thrilled to share these photos with you all today. Lane is the beautiful bride that you see in these Dallas bridal portraits, and though she may look like a model, she is in fact about to be a nurse at Parkland!

Dallas Bridal Portraits

As with all of our brides, I like to sit down and have a discussion with my brides, be it face to face or over the phone, so that I know exactly where they want to be photographed, and the look they are going for. Some brides are looking for beautiful classic Dallas bridal portraits, while others may want something a bit more abstract. Lane wanted a little bit of everything, so I went for a mix of classic images and really dramatic contemporary looks.

When asked about a location, all she wanted was to have trees in the shot, and really let the rest be up to my imagination, which always gets my wheels turning. After thinking over a variety of spots in the Dallas area, I decided on doing her Dallas Bridal Portraits605Dallas bridal portraits at a gorgeous lake spot I found. It had a great foresty area (is foresty even a word?), with stunning lake views that don’t look like they belong around here. Thankfully they are here, and off we went.

For Lane’s bridals, she ended up being pretty lucky, as the temperature had not skyrocketed yet, and there was some intermittent cloud cover. In comparison, I cooked a rotisserie chicken with herbed potatoes on the sidewalk today, so she was fortunate indeed.

We began shooting on the forest path, where I moved her around for various shots to get to know the best angles to photograph her from. Everyone has their unique way to look their best, and I won’t stop until I figure it out. Photography has always been like a puzzle for me, I really enjoy situations where I have to figure things out and put it all together for the perfect shot. The forest was where we really focused on the more classic Dallas bridal portraits, and then turned the dial to 11, or in this case high fashion once we hit the lake. You can ask my wife, I’m a dramatic person, which is why weddings suit me. I’m drawn to the intense joy and happiness surrounding weddings, and love photographing it!

After knowing I had all the shots I would need, we decided to go for one last, super dramatically lit portrait to really take advantage of the setting sky. The sun had gone, but we had a deep colored sky with lovely clouds. After all, there was a rainstorm approaching. Wait, yes I said rainstorm! It was still a ways off, but we grabbed her last few Dallas bridal portraits with haste and hurried her to the car. It ended up being perfect timing, as the wind began to pick up and swirl dust right as she got into safety. There is never a dull moment for me as a photographer, and being a Dallas wedding photographer is certainly no exception! I hope you enjoy, and props to Brides and Beaux in Colleyville for helping her find such a fabulous dress!
