Even Dallas Wedding Photographers Need a Vacation

Dallas Wedding PhotographerThere is no place like the beach. In fact the beach is my wife’s favorite place on earth.

Aynsley and I recently traveled to Mexico for a little time to ourselves, rest and relaxation. We decided it was time for us to get away so within two days we had planned and booked our trip to Mexico. It was time for this Dallas wedding photographer and his wife to hit the road.

We had the most wonderful vacation, however it did not start off that great. We wanted to go back to a resort in Mexico much like where we had spent our honeymoon. Unfortunately the resort we chose was utterly disappointing. The resort consisted of a jam packed beach, loud pool parties all night long, poor service and pretty nasty food. To top it all off a mouse jumped out of our closet at Aynsley. At this point, things were not going well (obviously).

Our second night at the resort we decided to play it safe with a buffet for dinner. Aynsley decided that with enough options we were sure to find something edible in the place. Unfortunately her idea failed. We could not even finish the buffet dinner. So we decided to go to another restaurant within the resort for Italian (yes, we were already skeptical). By the time our food arrived, Aynsley had decided to stop eating altogether and the Dallas wedding photographer was getting restless.

The following morning we were up with bags packed around 8:30AM. We were not going to let another day go to waste.

We decided to play it safe and head back to a resort we knew and loved. This is where Aynsley and her Dallas wedding photographer husband spent our honeymoon. Initially we thought it would be fun to try out another resort, but we quickly learned to stick with what we loved.

From the moment we arrived at our new resort hotel our entire trip turned around. We spent the following three days in a beautiful hotel with an unbelievable ocean front view which was much better than our jungle view at the last resort. The beach was huge with tons of space for everyone to spread out and relax. The food was awesome and we enjoyed a wide variety of food daily. The atmosphere was incredible and the service was personal and professional. It was everything we could dream of and more.

As a Dallas wedding photographer my goal for this trip was to completely relax. Aynsley and I spent a lot of time lounging at the beach reading some books and catching up on sleep. We also spent a lot of time enjoying the water. I think the best part of our trip was when we went snorkeling. We headed off to a large reef and went snorkeling in two different locations. Neither of us had ever been snorkeling before and it was an awesome experience! We saw tons of fish, a large stingray and several barracuda. Then just for fun we went to a cake decorating class. And since I am a Dallas wedding photographer, we had to wake up for two sunrises and have some mini portrait sessions.

I hope you enjoy some pictures from our vacation! (There are no pictures from the first hotel…)
