LinkedIn: The Dating Site for Business

Professional Headshot Photographer in Dallas, Jason Kindig

Well hey there. You are lookin’ pretty good. So good, I think I might just… send you an InMail. Oh yeah, that’s right. There’s nothing like making a little business-to-business connection. It’s all about the B2B baby.

In all seriousness though, LinkedIn is an amazing place for business, and as a commercial photographer in Dallas, I find it invaluable as a resource to connect with people and other businesses both locally, nationally and even across the globe. That’s why LinkedIn is the perfect dating site for business.

Now like any good dating site, you want to make sure you are putting your best foot forward. Actually, let’s say look and not foot, you don’t want to be like one of those more interesting folks that posts a pic of their feet on their dating profile. In fact, if you were even thinking about posting a shot of your feet on your LinkedIn profile, I’m not entirely sure that the site is for you. I would highly suggest keeping your two profiles separate. Need more info? Check out my blog on Why Your Dating Profile Pic Probably Shouldn't Be Your LinkedIn Headshot.

2 Things to Consider About Your LinkedIn Image:

Who are you courting?

In my work as a Dallas commercial photographer, I am focused on helping businesses market their products and services through beautiful images so that they can sell more of them. Since I am focused on business, that is who I want to appeal to on my website and on LinkedIn. I may do different kinds of photography from time to time, but my primary focus is on businesses. When you are positioning yourself on LinkedIn, whom do you want to reach out to? Do you want to connect with a large business with a global presence, or are you looking to find your niche at a small business in Dallas? Perhaps you are an entrepreneur and want to connect with similar people around town that you can both work with and learn from. Whatever you want to do, it’s important to know whom you are pursuing, and what they are looking for. Talk to a commercial photographer today and let them know whom you are trying to reach. By having this knowledge in hand, they can suggest everything from backgrounds to wardrobe to get people swooning over you (remember, the dating site analogy).

What do you want them to see?

Honestly, it might even be better to say who do you want them to see? Do your potential clients or employers need to see someone who is sharply dressed in formal attire, or do they need to see someone who has a more relaxed look? Are you going for a very classic professional look, or want to give off more of a creative vibe? Just remember that you are your own brand, whether you are working for yourself or for someone else. When people go to LinkedIn, you want them to see and understand the brand you built.

The best way to achieve a look that helps people to get you is by talking to Dallas commercial photographers. They have the tips and tricks that can guide you to not only having a flattering image of yourself, but one that can market you like a laser beam. They can create an image that will radiate your personality, and get people swiping right all daylong. Wait, wrong site…

In either case, we humans generally size people up and make an assessment in the first few seconds that we see something.

So, make sure that your image is exactly what it should be, and that it caters exactly to the ones who you are courting. Enjoy and here’s to making some great connections!
