You ever had that kind of week where everything feels like a blur? Well, to be honest the past several months have felt that way. I am sure many of you can understand. Now summer is coming a close and everyone is trying to gear up for the school year that is literally right around the corner.

Well, I say all of this because in our busy week of various shoots, we were unable to mention a particular blog that featured some of Jason’s food photography. On Wednesday, August 18, Jason’s work was featured on Dallas Wedding Planner Blog. The article entitled “What’s for Dinner? Current Wedding Food Trends ~ Part 2” discussed the latest wedding food trends.  So, check out this blog to get great ideas on what to serve for your wedding.

The wedding menu is a big deal. Couples spend a lot of time coming up with what they want to serve their guests that not only tastes great but also captures their personalities. Lately, the wedding menu has gotten more creative, fun and exciting.

Jason works hard to capture all of the special elements the bride and groom have chosen for their wedding day, and that includes the food. From the appetizers to the main course to the stunning wedding cake to the candy bar when you say goodnight, Jason takes time to photograph each dish and details creating memories of your special day.

Let me begin by saying that there is nothing like a perfectly prepared steak. A nicely seared light crust on the outside, with beautifully tender meat on the inside is a one-way ticket to my happy place. I recently had the opportunity to work with the Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steakhouse in Fort Worth, and these are people that excel at creating the perfect steak, and then cap it by delivering it to you with perfect service. They had made some updates to the restaurant, and wanted new imagery for their marketing efforts. I’m sure you were expecting some pretty food photos after all that talk about delicious food, but it was really just a tease. That’s just how I am. It was fun shooting their various rooms, and I was very proud of the finished product. Del Frisco’s strives for perfection in everything they do, so I worked to make sure that every last detail was in order. Let’s see what you all think. Enjoy!

Are you hungry right now? If so, this isn’t going to help. Don’t worry I feel your pain, as my afternoon snack is an apple. As you may know, I love food, and food photography (go check out more of it here), though I’m still not sure of the exact order yet. In either case, one of the best ways to merge these two loves of mine is through restaurant features and reviews. I recently had the chance to check out Cooper’s BBQ in Fort Worth near the Stockyards. That is certainly an appropriate location that is squarely focused on carnivorous delights. They are new to town, but have been in Texas since 1953, so it would be safe to say they know a thing or two about barbecue.

As I am ever-curious (or perhaps ever-hungry), I knew that I would have to try some tasty Texas heritage before I left. Cooper’s is famous for their ‘Big Chop’, which is a delectably large pork chop that is cooked on their pits (no media in the pit area, it’s top secret!). So, after photographing the serving pit and chop, I was given the opportunity to see what all this was about. It was very good. The chop was so meaty and flavorful, and didn’t need any sauce, which is a good thing because in true Texas fashion, they don’t serve sauce.

I also can’t say enough about the potato salad and peach cobbler, except that I was thoroughly stuffed afterward. My birthday was the day after this shoot, but getting a lunch like that was definitely a splendid gift. Enjoy!

Well, as you probably know, it is pretty darn cold outside today. Unfortunately, due to my desire to save change, my office feels about the same. So, instead of turning up the heat (or even turning it on for that matter), I have decided to show off a few tasty food images that conjure up feelings of a warmer time of year. First off, what do you think of as the number one thing when someone puts the summer and food together? Your answer is probably a resounding “Burgers and Barbecue!” which means that you probably did not read the question properly, but no worries. JK_1006weblg

In either case, I love to grill, even when it is cold outside, and look forward to some nice warm patio parties this summer, with plenty of various cooked and/or smoked meats passed around. To get everyone’s mind focused properly, here is one of my favorite burger photographs (and favorite burgers!), from M&O Station Grill in Fort Worth, along with a plate of delicious ribs from Angelo’s in Fort Worth, and finally, to give things a serious kick to the thermostat, the flaming fajitas from La Familia Mexican Restaurant in Fort Worth.

Now, I was sent to do the food photography of all of these  reviews, but also had the luxury of taste testing some of these items, (after all, do you want them to serve you a burger I just photographed for 30 minutes?) and giving my own unofficial, yet far less credible review. It would probably be fun for someone to count the amount of times I say, “Awesome!” when eating these things. Aynsley and I also have our own little review of the food I get sent home with, as you can really tell good food by the leftovers it makes.

An excellent case in point is that Bleu Cow Burger up top. Even after a drive home that burger was amazing, to the point where it may be one of the best burgers I have ever had. And trust me, I have had a lot of burgers. The same could be said for the ribs, and probably the fajitas, except I finished them all at the restaurant. Yum. Enjoy!
