It's a Boy... and another Boy!
I am a relative newcomer to the world of gender reveal parties, but now that all of my friends seem to be getting the baby bug, I have a feeling that I will be seeing a lot more of them. The one I attended yesterday was a real treat on many levels, as two sisters, Ally and Amanda, decided to have a joint gender reveal party. For purposes of notching the old belt, I’m going to count that as two parties.
Now you know that the Dallas event photographer in me couldn’t be without a camera, as I enjoy getting to document my friends and families during our various activities, especially during celebrations!
Besides the opportunity to watch two couples get super excited at once, I was able to enjoy some cupcakery as well. The sisters own their own bakery, RedRaspberry Cakes, so of course there was sugar-filled goodness aplenty. I often hear about couples cutting into cakes to find out, but Amanda and Ally decided to mix it up a bit and do cupcakes pumped up with the reveal filling. As long as I get dessert I’m a happy Dallas event photographer, though cupcakes are a ton of fun.
Everyone was making their best guess at whether or not they would be having boys, girls, or some combination, and Amanda, being the crafty one she is, made her own chalkboard to record votes. My wife Aynsley and I both were pulling for Amanda to have a girl, and showed our certainty in this decision by both wearing pink. We couldn’t have been more wrong.
Once the reveal portion of the party was underway, they all lined up with cupcakes in hand, and at the signal bit into their cupcakes. It was more of a bite and look fast, I’m not sure they savored too much at that point. As you can see from the images, there was a ton of excitement as they found out that they were each having… boys!
That’s right, tons of blue icing, which meant two boys! Talk of camping, football, hunting and other such manly activities instantly came to mind. Unfortunately my Dallas event photographer guess was completely off, so I’ll just have to work my intuition a bit harder next time. In either case, I hope you enjoy the images, and congratulations to Nick and Amanda, and Ally and Jason on their upcoming baby boys!
