Professional Headshots: Stand Out From The Crowd

Dallas Headshot Photographer, Jason Kindig

If you’ve ever been in the business world, you know how first impressions are of the utmost importance. This critical moment sets the stage for either success or failure, and honestly applies to not only business but in the personal realm as well.

When it comes to making a great impression in business, I think one of, if not the most important part of this impression is Dallas headshots. Before you even click a contact button, type in a phone number or read through someone’s LinkedIn profile, you are going to check out his or her photo. Whether you analyze it intentionally or subliminally, you are evaluating the image and will form an opinion in your mind.

With that in mind, I cannot stress how incredibly important it is that you have a great and professional photo on display. I’m not the only person to see the value of strong headshots. You see, recently I was asked by a client of mine to take some headshots for them. Now, it wasn’t actually for them. They were assisting non-profits in helping people to rise up and get professional training in a few different areas. If there is anything I can get behind, it’s this.

There are so many struggling out there to find a job or start their career, and this is even harder when you have never been given the tools, or have faced situations and setbacks in life that have knocked you down. I truly admire those that have gone through a tough life but have decided to pick themselves up in the arena and get going. They are looking for a hand up, and so if I can provide them a professional headshot that helps them stand out amongst the other applicants, I am more than happy to do so.

There were a lot of activities going on the day that I was there to capture headshots, as they were doing empowerment training in things such as mock interview skills, resume building and how to dress for success. Again, first impressions are everything, as evidenced by what the workshops were focused on.

For the headshots, I decided to shoot to a neutral gray. It’s a very simple, clean background that doesn’t distract, but also looks strong. As with all of the lighting that I do as a Dallas headshot photographer, I make sure it has a nice pop and a little bit of drama, as I am a fan of strong contrast. This also ensures that the headshots really pop off the page or screen on a resume or business profile page, and they look fresh and contemporary.

Another aspect of the Dallas headshots that I shoot is my attention to detail. I am obsessive about details, almost to the point that I can drive myself a bit crazy at times, but this particular trait always works in favor of my clients! I can’t stand it when ties or jackets are out of place, or a piece of hair is sticking out. I try to fix these things whenever I see them, and I was especially fortunate to have a gentleman from one of the charities who was as picky as I am. He became my set stylist for the entire session, so with our combined forces we made sure that every single person looked like a total rock star.

All in all, it was an honor for me to be able to photograph these headshots, and I hope that in some small way I am able to contribute to the success of these individuals. Congratulations for going for it and best of luck on prospecting!
