Dallas Corporate Photography: A Guide To Headshot Backdrops

Today’s blog is for all of you out there looking for a Dallas corporate photographer. We know that the Dallas corporate photography demand is high around here so we try to offer helpful tips every now and then on our blog. Today we are taking an in depth look at backgrounds and how to select the right look for your company headshots and portraits.

Choosing the proper background for your headshots, portraits and company portraits does not have to be difficult, but when it comes to options your choices are endless. So today I wanted to breakdown what goes into selecting the right background. If you have never looked at a photography backdrop catalog (which I am sure you haven’t) you would be amazed at how many different types of backgrounds there are. You can get any color, any pattern and even fake scenes, though we do not recommend those. Hopefully by the end of this Dallas photography blog, you will feel confident in selecting your backdrop for your upcoming Dallas corporate photography.

I wanted to start with a list of questions that you can ask yourself before you decide how you will accomplish your corporate photography. First, you need to figure out what kind of look you are going for. Check out the questions below to help you narrow down what you want.

1.)  Branding: Are you trying to brand your headshots/portraits with company colors?

2.)  Consistency: Do you need to stay consistent to headshots /portraits that are already being used in your marketing materials and website?

3.)  Updating: Are you trying to update your company’s look with more modernized headshots/portraits?

4.)  The Look: Are you looking for environmental headshots/portraits or studio headshots/portraits?

Environmental Headshots, Jason Kindig

a.)  Environmental Headshots/Portraits:

Environmental corporate photography is shot around your office space, outdoors, on a balcony over looking the city or at another location of your choice. This look has become more and more popular with companies. Obviously when you are working with Dallas corporate photography in the environment there are several factors you have to consider: location, weather, temperature, time of day, and consistency between all of the shoots.

Studio Headshots, Jason Kindig

b.)  Studio Headshots/Portraits:

Studio Dallas corporate photography is your more classic corporate headshot look. This is a very clean and simple style. If you select Dallas corporate photographer, Jason Kindig, he can bring the studio to your office making this process easy, convenient and fast for you. With studio headshots/portraits you can choose from an endless amount of backgrounds, but we recommend the classic black, white or gray tones. If you do want to use company colors for branding purposes that is great, buy maybe try to avoid using a bright red.

Another issue to consider is the location(s) of your offices and your employees. If you want to upgrade your employee headshots and portraits companywide but you have several offices, you need to decide if you want studio consistent photography that can be replicated or if you want various offices displayed through environmental photography.

One final option is to have your Dallas corporate photographer photograph the chosen location so that they can then place people on it. This ensures that the backdrop remains consistent without having to have all of your employees at the location at one time.

In the end environmental and studio photography are both wonderful options. You just need to decide which look works better for what you wish to accomplish. You also may decide to do a mixture of both where your company’s headshots may all be shot to a background while your company portrait is shot in or around your office building. The main importance with corporate headshot / portrait photography is that the images are clean, simple, and highly professional.
