Top 5 Reasons You Should Not Shoot Your Own Event Part I
These days anyone can be a photographer right? Not necessarily. I know that the common belief is that with all of this great technology at our fingertips anyone can create beautiful images and capture great moments, but the truth is that event photography is an entirely different animal.
It is always amazing to me how often my wife gets handed the camera (when I am not around of course…). She will tell me that when she is at a party, a lunch with friends or even a girl’s night out, she is always the go to person when people want a picture. She may be lucky enough to be married to a dashing photographer, but she is not a photographer. She did not somehow acquire photography skills by tying the knot with me, but try telling her friends that.
As Dallas event photographers, I have heard a lot of stories from people who either thought they were photographers, or someone else thought they knew all the particulars on what it takes to shoot an event. The end results can be pretty disappointing. The ability of someone to be able to cook mac and cheese or pop in a frozen pizza doesn't mean that they are qualified to cater their company's upcoming soiree. I know that sounds harsh, but when it's the important moments for your company, don't take the risk. Make the investment and hire professional Dallas event photographers for your corporate events. It will be well worth it.

Top 5 Reasons You Should Not Be The Photographer For Your Company’s Event
1. You don't have the equipment
This first point is pretty basic. You can’t photograph an event if you do not have the equipment. Dallas event photographers have to have a lot of equipment, and backup equipment, to be able to handle a variety of situations, especially the low light that exists at most events. When shooting Dallas corporate events you have to consider lighting, backdrops, multiple professional grade cameras, specialized lenses and all of the other photography gear that goes into creating great event photography.
2. You don't have the technical skills
When people assume that my wife knows how to take pictures they hand her their camera and she begins to get nervous. Why? Well, because she has no clue what she is doing. There is a lot of knowledge, technical skills and artistry that goes into being a photographer. You do not just pick up a camera and start shooting like a pro. It takes years to make operating a camera second nature. If you do not know how to properly work a camera, then you are probably going to be stuck when it comes to operating lighting and working with all of the other gear that Dallas event photographers use.
Alright, we are through with the first 2 out of 5 points. I hope you will check back tomorrow for the conclusion to this blog series!
