Dallas Corporate Event Photographer: 5 Things You Want to Avoid II

5 Warning Signs to Look Out For When Looking for a Dallas Corporate Event Photographer

Saturation: This may not be one of the first warning signs to pop into your head but the more you look at photography the more you will notice how important color is. Sometimes photographers do not have the technical skills needed to produce quality work straight from the camera. Instead they rely on photoshop work prior to their shoots. This is a huge weakness because a talented photographer is able to produce great shots due to their deep understanding of the technical side of photography. If a photographer relies on photoshop following their shoots there is a major red flag. Typically in this kind of situation, the photographer will overcompensate for their lack of technical skills by pushing the color too far. The pictures’ colors will be blown out, too intense and unrealistic. Color is a critical aspect to quality photography. You want natural color with a bit of pop to add interest tot the photographs. Warning Sign: You notice a lot of nuclear colors in photographs.

Exposure: Understanding exposure is a must when it comes to your Dallas corporate event photographer. It should go without saying, but there are many photographers out there that don’t have a clue about exposure so, it that is why exposure made my list of red flags. An overexposed image is one that looks washed out. There is no real definition and the details are too white. An underexposed image is where the picture is too dark. Overexposed or underexposed images are never a good sign especially if you are seeing them in a portfolio. You want your Dallas corporate event photographer to have a keen understanding of exposures to ensure that all of your photographs are taken properly and come out looking great. Photographs that are too light or too dark are not going to look great in your marketing materials are they?! Warning Sign: You see pictures that are either too bright or too dark.

Unflattering Photographs: We have all had unflattering pictures taken of us. Think chowing down on an appetizer, getting a photo snapped in the middle of an awkward facial expression, or just a really bad angle of you. It is inevitable. Unflattering pictures happen, but that doesn’t mean they need do be seen. You rely on your Dallas corporate event photographer to take flattering pictures. Pictures that both flatter your company and flatter your employees and guests. If you notice unflattering photographs in event portfolios it is a sign that the photographer does not know how to edit properly. You want a photographer with a well-trained eye who knows exactly what they need to do to make you and your company look the best it can. Warning Sign: You see unflattering pictures of people which are ultimately unflattering of your company.

Stylized Photography: Fashion goes though seasons of popularity. What was popular last year might be a faux pa this year. The same thing goes for photography. Highly stylized, highly photoshopped pictures might be in style for a time, and then strongly disliked later. You want your Dallas corporate event photographer to shoot timeless work. Spend time review the potential event portfolio(s) and see if the photographer’s pictures are timeless. Warning Sign: You see a lot of highly stylized photography that will not always be popular.

I hope this blog will be very helpful as you search for your event photographer. Keep you eyes open for the warning signs and continue searching until you find the perfect match for your event. It will all be worth it in the end!
