Professional Dallas Law Firm Headshots

Your headshot backgrounds are important!

Your headshot backgrounds are important!

So when you think about your Dallas law firm headshots, what do they say about you?

With nearly 20 years of experience, I’ve photographed thousands of headshots. When it comes to law firms, there are a vast amount of practice areas where people and businesses alike need assistance. Even though there may be a lot of different specialties, there are certain attributes that remain consistent. Characteristics such as level of expertise, professionalism, and your unique approach. The qualities that make your law firm stand apart should show in your headshots.

Four items you need to consider when preparing for your Dallas headshot photography:

Be Professional

Remember that first impressions are everything, and your headshot is your first impression. If your firm headshots look like they were done cheaply, or are low quality, it can give your clients the impression that your firm is not as top notch as a competitor who has better quality images. Or perhaps your site and images were cutting edge when you had them done… 15 years ago. Just like your wardrobe, hairstyle, etc. should be updating with the times (mullets are out btw), your photos need to follow suit.

Be Consistent

Remember that first impressions are everything, and your
headshot is your first impression.

This one piggy backs to the consistency note. If potential clients visit your page and see that your headshots are all over the place with varying quality, different backgrounds, and aesthetics that just don’t match up, it can really take away from the clean and professional vibe that you are going for. On the flip side, seeing images that all carry the same aesthetic and level of quality will go a long way in making potential clients feel like they’ve come to the right place. Keep in mind that they don’t have to all look the same either, but the general look and aesthetics should definitely match.

Be Approachable

I know that I discuss this quite a bit when I am working with clients on their Dallas attorney headshots, as we try to figure out what type of look best suits their particular area of expertise. While I understand that tax attorneys probably don’t need to look as tough as accident and injury lawyers, I think there is a lot to be said for looking approachable. You don’t have to have a huge smile, but I am of the opinion that your expression should be approachable enough that people would want to reach out and talk to you. Your attorney can be a bull dog in the courtroom, but your clients want someone they feel like they can relate to.

Be Unique

I have shot countless headshots for law firms, and I’ve seen an equal amount of backgrounds and backdrops. While I’m not opposed to a standard gray headshot, I would suggest you consider finding a look for your firm that is unique. A background and lighting style that fit your firm’s specific brand aesthetics can really help you stand apart from your competitors. This is something to discuss as you are looking for photographers in Dallas, as there are many creative ways to have a background and aesthetic that is not only unique to your firm, but can be easily replicated as your team changes and grows.
