Dallas Event Photographer: 90's Prom Lives On!

Dallas Event Photographer

Unless you are my son, who is just shy of two years old, there is a good chance that you remember the 90’s. Oh yes, the fashion, the music, it was, like, all so cool. This Dallas event photographer grew up during this epic decade, and I have very fond memories of the music. So, when I was approached about photographing an anniversary dinner with a 90’s prom theme, I was super pumped. Themed parties are great in their own right, but a prom theme? Heck yes. Add to that the fact that they wanted to do a photo wall for all of the guests and I was ready to roll.

The talented ladies of DFW Events made the entire soiree possible, and all of the details were perfect, down to the Lisa Frank journal for a sign in book. C’mon, you remember Lisa Frank right? If not, Google it. They had really colorful streamers all along the beams of the room, and the DJ’s even wore some killer period clothing, not to mention throwing down some jams that took me back in a major way. It gave a private event photographer in Dallas plenty of content to capture.

Now this event was already fun enough, but the best part? It was a surprise. You see, the wife had no idea what she walking in to. She thought it would just be a regular dinner that they were attending, and she was totally blown away to see her friends and family that had come in from all over to celebrate!

For the onsite photo wall, I tried to keep it as true to form as possible, down to the style of lighting. I used umbrellas on the lights, as I don’t think I ever saw a single prom photographer use anything else, and there was a super streamer backdrop provided by DFW Events, who planned all of the details of this great night. Everyone who had their photo taken by a Dallas event photographer got the opportunity to do a few delightfully awkward prom poses, and as the night wore on we did more fun poses or really whatever anyone wanted. Once guests had their photo taken they could sit down at the computer with my crew and pick which photo or photos they wanted to have printed out. Everything was printed almost immediately after they made their selections, and I found some lovely gold-trimmed frames that complimented the night perfectly. The photos were put into frames, and off the guests went to enjoy the rest of the evening.

Everyone in attendance also had the opportunity to dress up as prom king and queen, so there were plenty of people getting to live the dream and be photographed by Dallas event photographers.

Speaking of dress up, I saw plenty of people really get in to it. There were several ladies that had custom corsages made, you know the lovely ones that go on your wrist with plenty of ribbon? Oh yeah, it was greatness. My favorite accessory I saw however, had to be some of the guys’ tuxedo vests. One guy had an unbelievably cool Looney Toons vest on that he found on Ebay, while there were two other guys who had the epitome of 90’s fashion on. One of the guys actually had the vests in his closet; my guess is he was waiting for them to come back in style. After all, denim has returned right? Even with that encouraging news, I still don’t know if these vests will be cool again, but I found them to be hilarious.

All in all, it was a fantastic night, everyone had a blast, and I know I was singing along to pretty much every song that night. I’m torn to what had to be my favorite one; it’s probably between something from Everclear or Gangsta’s Paradise. I almost surprise myself at how many lyrics I remember. As always, I hope you enjoy this Dallas event photography!
